Marvin Binney Finds a Home

Junior transfer Marvin Binney will finish his basketball career at St Mary’s of San Antonio, Texas. The Rattlers play in the Heartland Conference where they went 23-8 last year on route to the third round of the Division II playoffs.

Binney was a surprise to transfer considering he was a member of Jim Ferry’s first recruiting class. The Canadian guard seemed to play a bigger role as the season went along, but with the addition of Tra’vaughn White, Desmond Ridenour and possibly Micah Mason depending on how his transfer waiver goes, Binney looked buried on the depth chart.

Of the other six players to leave the Duquesne basketball program this spring and summer, only Derrick Martin remains in limbo. PJ Torres, the first to leave, has enrolled at Post. Mamadou Datt and Martins Abele will make Fairmont St a lot bigger. Quevyn Winters will burn his sophomore year with the hopes of returning to Division I after taking a JUCO year at Indian Hills in Iowa.  Kadeem Pantophlet stayed at Duquesne, but switched locker rooms. He’s made two appearances for men’s soccer this year.
