Luther Visit highlights Week in DU Sports

This was actually a pretty busy week in Duquesne news. Let’s have a look back at the things that were happening for the Dukes and what they mean in the grand scheme of things.

Dukes renew contract with Clear Channel

That news broke just the other day. This will keep the Dukes on 104.7 and maintain the pre- and post-game shows that have been the norm the last several years as well as the coaches shows. Obviously, this is a good thing. The Dukes will continue to be heard on a good and clear signal, and the broadcast will also be available on apps like IHeartRadio (the Clear Channel official app) if you happen to be on the road. Win-win.

Sam Frymier (soccer), Allison Foschia (volleyball) , and Meghan Baritot (cross country) all were recognized in their respective sports.

Reportedly, the Luther twins visited.

Confirmed that 2014 twins Ryan and Colin Luther (Hampton, PA) are on campus at Duquesne today for Official visit. @GoDuquesne @mwhiteburgh
— Steve Brodzinski (@PGHbballReport) September 12, 2013

Of course the PG notes that they may not be a package deal.

Duquesne Football gets a big verbal commitment

Nate Stone of Greensburg Central Catholic expressed his desire to play Linebacker for the Dukes. Check out this article, featuring some background as well as a highlight video.

Plenty of other things went on this week – we’d go crazy typing all of ‘em out. Men’s Soccer lost their first to Georgetown, volleyball has had some mixed results, and the football team is getting ready for YSU. Keep watching us here and make sure you interact in the comments and on Twitter.
