After a couple of days off to lick their wounds, the Dukes will take the court tonight against the Albany Great Danes.
First, take some time to get some background on Albany with our in-depth look at the Danes and where they’re coming from. Albany, you may remember, was an NCAA tournament team last year, losing to Duke as a 15 seed.
Have a look here for some opposition reporting. At the time of this writing, the Times-Union doesn’t have a game preview up, but don’t let that stop you from having a look around.
The UAlbanySports website has a rather provocative headline for their own game preview – “Men’s Basketball Looks To Hand Duquesne Its Third Straight Loss.” If you listened to our most recent podcast, wherein we discuss some of the team’s play in the early going, you would understand when I say that the headline makes my neck hurt a little bit. If you didn’t care about beating the Danes, you might now.
Anyway, that article notably points out that in all three games this year, the Danes have had three players or more in double figures. Of course, the Dukes have regularly had five players in doubles themselves.
Dukes fans who have been concerned about what’s been happening beyond the arc may be interested to know that Albany was 0 for 4 from three point land in their last game. That doesn’t necessarily mean a lot, but take it for what it’s worth.
Tip-off is right around 7:00 PM! We’ll see you at Palumbo.
