Women’s volleyball phenom Arielle Love is – once again – our Duke of the Week and the first to be recognized as such more than one time in our feature.
Love was a huge part of the reason for the success of the women’s volleyball team this season and during the Atlantic 10 Championship. The league took note of her excellent performances, and she ultimately earned the award for the most outstanding player in the conference tournament.
Love had 21 kills and 10 blocks in the two tourney games that she played, including three crucial kills early in the 4th set that helped bring the Dukes back from an early VCU lead. When all was said and done, she and her teammates took the Dukes to their first Atlantic 10 championship game appearance and win in the history of the volleyball program. They’ll represent the conference in the NCAAs starting December 5th at one of the regional sites and will hope to run all the way to Seattle, Washington for the championships.
Arielle, along with fellow Dukes Mary Henry, and Marah Fararge represented the university on the all-championship team. No other school had more than one player recognized in this fashion.
She’s well deserving of this repeat recognition on We Wear the Ring and surely if the Dukes have a strong showing in the NCAA tournament, we won’t see the last of her in this feature.
Congrats once more to our Duke of the Week, Arielle Love, and the rest of the women’s volleyball team, and best wishes for continued success in the NCAAs!
