It’s gameday! At 7 PM, the Dukes will take on Penn State at the Consol Energy Center. Last year, this was a 10 point win for the Nittany Lions and the last win before a 14-game losing streak.
Make sure to familiarize yourself with Penn State with our preview article.
If you’re curious what the view looks like from the Lions’ side, here’s their own preview. One note that I didn’t see before our own article went up – PSU point guard Time Frazier comes into this game leading Division I in total assists.
Last year, it was guard DJ Newbill that led the way for Penn State, with 23 points and 12 boards. Frazier didn’t play in that game or in any other that season after he ruptured his achilles tendon against Akron. Either player is dangerous alone – together they’re a formidable pair of guards.
Duquesne’s preview can be found here. That article features links to both the streaming audio and video for those who can’t attend. The article also notes that we could see Isaiah Watkins – finally – in this game. Watkins, of course, has been recovering from some knee surgery and was awaiting full medical clearance. His presence would be a relief – it gets another player with some height out there, and gets another scholarship player available as well. The Dukes have been down three scholarship players since Mason’s injury.
Still no word on Jordan Robinson.
Speaking of Watkins, here’s an article from the PG’s Duquesne blog about his expected debut this evening. Ferry noted that he won’t be the “real Isaiah for five or six games,” but that he hopes the progression will happen faster than that. He also said that Watkins has had a good week of practice.
See you at the game! Go Dukes!
