After the deadly quiet of late November recruiting, we finally heard of some activity last week with the Dukes heading to Florida to watch Oldsmar Christian play IMG Academy. I suspected that the Dukes went to see IMG forward Aleer Leek but it turns out that Jeff Garrett who picked up three offers that night stole the show for the Duquesne coaches, too.

Looking at the tale of the tape, Garrett is a lanky, athletic 6’7” stretch three. In a June article on 247 sports, he self reports his versatility saying, “I can play any position.” He seems to fit the Ferry job description for interior players in that he can shoot, pass and run the floor. For those interested, here’s his highlight real.
A three star prospect and the 149th best player in the class of 2014 according to 247 Sports, Garrett has had a pretty exciting December picking up four offers aside from Duquense’s. Oregon St, Murray St and South Florida, who have already secured the signature of fellow Oldsmar player Troy Holston, offered after the IMG game. Duquesne took a few days to think about it and Toledo offered yesterday. The Alabama native Garrett seemed like a UAB lean over the summer, but he never verballed. His patience might have paid dividends as he sees his offer sheet balloon.
Eric James Update:
Since the last Recruiting Recap, I learned that Eric James remained verbally committed to Duquesne even though he never signed his letter of intent. James had one game last week on Friday against Canal Winchester. He led all scorers with twenty points.
