Recruiting Recap 4/4: Kevin Punter, Twymond Howard, Tre’ Tipton

The Dukes got some bad news on the JUCO recruiting front but some good news for football. Last week, we heard that Twymond Howard and Dinjiyl Walker were visiting the Dukes. It was reported that Walker recently visited St Mary’s and Howard went to TCU. Out of no where, Howard verballed to the Ohio Valley Conference’s UT – Martin mid week coming as a bit of a surprise for everyone.

Walker’s recruitment is still open.

While I was slightly disappointed (and confused) to hear about Howard picking a much smaller school, my heart sank a little when I heard about Kevin Punter picking Missouri. Punter averaged 20 points a game hitting over 80% of his free throws. On paper, he looked like a great fit for Jim Ferry’s system, but when Mizzou came calling about a month ago, I didn’t like the Dukes chances to actually land him. While I didn’t mention him by name often, he topped my list of prospective JUCO targets.

At this rate, I think the Dukes next verbal could come from off the reservation. We’re running out of known targets with only Walker, Jaylen Barford and Rashard Figures still on the board. Don’t overlook the Dukes in the transfer market either.

While things are looking hazy for basketball, we’ve gotten a surprising amount of news on the football front thanks to WPIAL Insider. The Dukes have already offered North Catholic wide receiver PJ Fulmore, but they’ve also targeted 3 star Apollo prospects Tre’ Tipton along with Seton LaSalle athlete Danzel McKinley – Lewis. According to the insider, Fulmore and Tipton could amount to a serious coup for the Dukes.
